Upcoming Event: Stoke Newington Guitar Festival

Hi all,

It's the first of the new month, and coming up later on the 14th to 16th of November is the Stoke Newington Guitar Festival 2014.

Guitar Festival

Curated by Francesco Mariani, the festival is in it's second year after a successful first outing last year featuring the likes of Craig Ogden (classical) and Juan Martin (flamenco). This year will see the return of Juan Martin, as well as major artists Clive Carroll and Graham Divine making their first Stoke Newington appearance.
Clive Carroll will be appearing on the Friday Night and reminds me of some of the great British folk artists that appeared during the folk boom of the 1960's, a bit like the amazing Davy Graham, but also he has a fast picking style reminiscent of Django Reinhardt or Tommy Emmanuel.
For those who enjoy the diverse range of what the classical repertoire has to offer Graham Divine is sure to be a treat.
Graham Divine is an exceptional classical guitarist who is professor of guitar at Trinity Laban University in London.  Seeing him play is a delightful experience where you can hear the classical repertoire played at the highest level.
New artists will be represented including my friend and local Hertfordshire resident, Declan Zapala. Declan, an exciting and energetic player, plays using the percussive elements of the guitar and is a great performer.
Plus they'll be Creative Guitar Workshops with Amy Bowles who is an amazing teacher and performer and will be focusing on putting together a guitar ensemble performance with Workshop Students.
All in all it should be a fun few days, I was there last year and I highly recommend it.
